                      WILLINGTON CONSERVATION COMMISSION MEETING        
August 20, 2014 Meeting
Call to Order: The meeting was called to order @ 7:05 pm.
Roll Call: K. Demers, M. Drobney, C. Jordan M. Schreiber, K. Pacholski. Approval of Minutes of 07/16/14: Minutes approved with 3 ayes and 3 abstentions: MD, KP, MS. So moved
Seating of Alternates:  Motion by CJ/KD to seat J. Cartabiano for R. Shabot.
Present to Speak:  None
Finance:  CJ will contact DBA Natural Resources Consultants, LLC concerning documentation for a submitted invoice to WCC.
OLD BUSINESS
A. Properties Management
FRP-DS: Trails/Maintenance: MD will brush cut near the Taylor Pond and coordinate with RS on assembling the bench and table at FRP. Graffiti was noted on the sign in sheet at the bridge and the broken Plexiglas case as well.
Knowlton Preserve/TalmadgeTract: Additional trail blazing is need on the TT. The TT bridge project is still not completed.
Wilford Farms LLC: The WCC will not pursue timber management on the town portion of this parcel.  
B. Town Development: PZC; IWWC: No news
C. Collaborative Organizations:
Willimantic River Alliance: No report
Joshua’s Trust: No report
Windham County Conservation Consortium: No Report
D.   Levesque Farmland Preservation No news
E. Northern CT Land Trust: There may be a request for a resident of Willington to become a member of this organization. More information is needed before any action occurs.
F. Highlighting Local Agriculture: Would WCC be interested in sponsoring an event that highlights local agriculture? Ideas were discussed on this topic.
Other: NA.

NEW BUSINESS
A. Potential Land Purchase by Town: First Selectman Christina Mailhos and Selectman Kim Kowalyshyn presented the Town’s interest in purchasing a 12 acre parcel on Hancock Road adjacent to the 50 acre parcel that houses the Town Transfer Station, Public Works garage and other facilities. She presented the timeline and procedures that must be met for this transaction to occur.

B.  Other: K. Pacholski is the new Willington representative on the ConnecticutWater Water System Advisory Committee.
